Michael Cooley, CFP®, AIF® Financial Advisor mcooley@dbroot.com
Michael is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM Professional with 14 years' experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining D.B. Root & Company in June 2004, he spent nine years with Federated Investors in their mutual fund sales division. He worked directly with the firm's bank trust department clients, providing them with mutual fund advice and strategies.
At D.B. Root & Company, Michael and Carrie Coghill-Kuntz have taken a unique team approach to providing holistic wealth management services, along with active portfolio management to individual investors. "In working together as a team, Carrie and I focus on building better lives for our clients and their families," Michael explains, "Proper planning is one piece of the equation. The other is to provide first-class investment strategies that can ultimately enable our clients to meet their goals."

In addition to having earned the distinguished certification of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, Michael possesses an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation, which furthers his commitment to implementing proper fiduciary practices, policies and procedures. He also holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations with Commonwealth Financial Network.
Michael graduated from Robert Morris University with a finance degree, and earned a Financial Planning Certificate from Duquesne University. In July 2010, Michael was recognized as a *5-Star "Best in Client Satisfaction" Wealth Manager by Pittsburgh Magazine (results compiled by Crescendo Business Service, a national independent research firm).
He and his wife, Lori, are the proud parents of two children, Ethan and Nora. Although the financial planning business is more than a "9 to 5" work day, when Michael does have down time, his top priority is to spend time with his family. Michael also adds, "One of the most satisfying benefits of working with individual families is that you learn the importance of quality personal time with your children and the value of good health. Occasionally, I will sneak out to get some exercise and run a few miles." In 2005, he completed his first marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon, and in 2008, he ran the Las Vegas Half-Marathon.
* 5-Star "Best in Client Satisfaction" Wealth Manager criteria included: knowledge/expertise, integrity, communications, quality of recommendations, value for fees charged, customer service, regulatory record and overall client satisfaction.
