CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional Carrie Coghill-Kuntz is President and co-founder of D.B. Root & Company, a family wealth management firm established in 1994 and based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since 2006, D.B. Root & Company has been recognized consistently as one of the top wealth management firms in the country by Research Magazine.
As a registered representative of Commonwealth Financial Network (member FINRA/SIPC), licensed insurance agent and registered investment adviser, Carrie counsels clients in the areas of investment management, retirement planning, and estate planning. With her AIF® designation, Carrie assists businesses with implementing proper fiduciary practices, policies and procedures.
Her distinguished career in wealth management has brought Carrie considerable recognition. In addition to the awards noted above, she has also been recognized as one of the "Top 50 Women in Business" by the city of Pittsburgh and the state of Pennsylvania. In 2005, Ms. Coghill-Kuntz was featured in the book, "The Winner's Circle IV: Wealth Management Insights From America's Best Financial Advisors."
She is the author of the books, "The Newlyweds' Guide to Investing & Personal Finance," and "What's Your Investing IQ," as well as a contributor to the book, "Getting Started in 401(k) Investing."
Her focus on educating consumers was the catalyst for developing the television show, "Financial Planning," which she co-hosted with partner, David B. Root, Jr. The show aired twice monthly on Pittsburgh's NBC affiliate, WPXI-TV. She appears regularly on CNBC and is frequently asked to serve as the financial analyst for WPXI News, plus other local and national television programs.
Her investment advice has been utilized extensively throughout many media outlets: Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, USA Today, Business Week, Money Magazine, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dow Jones, Forbes.com, Pittsburgh Magazine, Woman's Day, and Working Mother. Also, she is a reoccurring contributor to Physician's News Digest, a web-based publication.
Carrie conducts workshops on a recurring basis and participates in forums to educate the public, as well as other financial advisors, about investments and financial planning. She is known for always taking the "consumer advocate" approach.
Carrie Coghill-Kuntz began her career with Shearson Lehman Brothers and Butcher & Singer, Inc. In 1987, she joined Bill Few Associates, where she and David Root, Jr. developed an innovative team concept for establishing and maintaining client relationships.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University, majoring in organizational studies and finance. For her distinguished record of service and accomplishment, Robert Morris University honored Carrie with their 2009 Heritage Award. Carrie is a member and past president for the Pittsburgh chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Her involvement with EconomicsPennyslvania focuses on educating children about economics and money during their early years. Carrie's community service emphasis is working with non-profit organizations that help at-risk children in the western Pennsylvania area.
