John Mazur is an independent research analyst and value manager with extensive experience managing equities for accounts with an extended time horizon. His vast experience in investment management provides the foundation for DBR & Co’s Mazur Dividend Income Builder Strategy.
John started his career as a lawyer, first at a major Pittsburgh law firm (Reed Smith) and then in the corporate law department at H. J. Heinz Company where his primary responsibilities were investor relations and pension fund management.
Later, he became the Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer at Carnegie Mellon University, responsible for overseeing the management of the university’s endowment. While there, he helped design and implement the investment policy that significantly improved returns during his seven years at the university.
For more than 15 years John has been a Director and the Treasurer of the Eden Hall Foundation and currently manages the foundation’s endowment fund, which is currently valued at $203 million.
John currently serves on the boards of the Sarah Heinz House and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. His credentials include a B.A. from Harvard, an M.B.A from the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from Harvard.
He and his wife, Joan, are long time residents of Hampton Township, where they live with their two golden retrievers. In addition to helping take care of their dressage show horse, he enjoys golf and reading.
